Hey all --
I have a long-term interest in the skiing equipment and styles of the '50s and '60s. To that end, I've put together a little collection of vintage gear (Head Giant Slaloms, Head 360s, Humanic Dynafit boots, '60s bindings and poles, clothes from that era, etc.).
But here's where I suppose it gets weird: I'm going to go skiing with this stuff. Admittedly, it's been a long time since I've done any skiing on any kind of equipment, so I'm going to have to find an instructor who's familiar with the limitations of old gear, but still--I want to actually *use* this stuff, not just admire it.
Anyone else out there do the same, or intend to? I'd be curious to hear about your experiences.

Re: Anyone ski on vintage gear?
Mon, January 9, 2006 - 10:37 PMI'm new here. Have you visited the ski museum at Boreal, run by Auburn Ski Club? They have great old gear in there and the general manager could probably give you some pointers on how to use the stuff. I think they are the oldest club in California. Anyway there are some cool oldtimers still tickin' that can tell some great stories about the area, it's very cool stuff :) They also have a nordic jump!
